Ray Furey is a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association and Nassau County Bar Association. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Bar, and he is past chair of its Medical Legal Committee. He is a certified civil trial attorney, certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. Furey is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the State of Florida, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and is a past chair of the Nassau-Suffolk Trial Lawyers Section. Mr. Furey is a member of the Grievance Committee of the Tenth Judicial District, appointed by the Appellate Division. He is a civil arbitrator for the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York. Furey has lectured extensively on trial-law and malpractice-defense issues in such venues as the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, the New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations, and various medical societies, physician groups and hospitals. He previously served in the U.S. Army Reserves, attaining the rank of Captain.
