Joseph O'Neill's affiliations reflect his many years of leadership in the New Jersey trial bar. He is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, the American Bar Association and a former chair of the Cumberland County Bar Association. He served as National Governor, from 1992 to 1998, of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. O'Neill received the 1977-8 Outstanding Contribution and Leadership Award from the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He served as president, in 1988 and 1989, as the president of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, New Jersey section. He has served as ATLA-NJ's secretary, treasurer and first and second vice president. O'Neill has written and lectured extensively on trial law issues and has lectured for ATLA New Jersey and the Institute for Continuing Legal Education. O'Neill is also a member of the New Jersey Automobile Arbitration Panel and is certified as a civil and criminal trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
