Plaintiffs' Personal Injury Law - Garden City, NY

Don't ask me to explain what's gotten me here: I'm not sure that I can. All I know is that you have to like what you do - otherwise you're not going to be any good at it. And I love what I do. And you have to be yourself - don't pretend to be something you're not. I've seen lawyers do that, and they end up shading the truth or misrepresenting a point of their case. And if you lie on a single point, even a small point - that just undermines your entire case, because no one will believe you on anything else. A lot of lawyers go into court with a ship's crew of assistants and followers - I'm pretty much a solo guy. I personally handle a case from beginning to end. Every motion, every deposition and every trial. That just gives me a command of the case and its facts that I couldn't get otherwise. A lot of lawyers will just fight with their adversaries for the sake of battling - that's not my style. If I think I can make a difference in a case, I take it. The county bar called me on a Friday afternoon looking for someone to represent a family that was being evicted from their apartment by a landlord that was illegally raising the rent. I took it at no charge, because the facts bothered me. I remember opposing counsel walked up to me and asked if I was some inexperienced Legal Aid lawyer - I said 'No, but by the end of this you're going to wish I was a Legal Aid Lawyer.' We got a stay, and the family didn't have to move out. I really respond to those kinds of experiences. I'm not sure there's a simple label for me or the way I practice law. I just keep working hard. I do it the way I know how to - and it works.
