Francis J. Hartman's affiliations reflect his longtime leadership in criminal-defense and trial law, nationally and in Southern New Jersey, where he has practiced virtually his entire 48-year career. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Burlington County Bar Assn. He is a member of, and has served in many capacities for, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, both at the national and state level. He has served on its national board of governors as well as its executive committee. He is also a former chair of the ATLA-New Jersey's criminal law section, and served as vice chair of its finance department. For the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers he has served as national secretary and treasurer, as well as various other posts; he served as president of NACDL's New Jersey chapter. He is a former president and serves on the board of the Southern New Jersey Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Hartman is admitted to practice before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He has served on four distinct committees on behalf of the Supreme Court of New Jersey, and has held several posts for the state bar, as well as his county bar. He has been listed in "Best Lawyers of America" for more than 20 years, and has been an instructor on criminal and trial law in various venues, including The Wharton School, Temple Law School and Widener College. He is a former president of The Brehon Law Society.
