Bill Buckman is a member of the Bars of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Vermont, as well as the Burlington County Bar Association. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and its affiliated organization in New Jersey (ACDL-NJ), and is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers as well as the New York Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is currently co-chair of the Law Enforcement Misconduct Committee of the NACDL; and he previously served as a vice chair of the NACDL's Indigent Defense Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey; he most recently served as vice president of that organization. Buckman is designated a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court. He is a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College affiliated with Mercer Law School in Macon, Ga. He has written and lectured widely on such keys issues as police invasion of privacy, illegal search and seizure, racial profiling among law enforcement and the role of mental illness in criminal confessions. In 2001 he received the "Professional Lawyer of the Year Award" from the Burlington County Bar, and in 2002 he received The Justice Award from Black Minister's Council of New Jersey.
