Ron Helmer is a certified criminal trial attorney by the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey. Helmer says the rough-and-tumble of criminal trial work suits him, a self-described "Type A" professional.

Helmer, the son of Israeli immigrants, finished high school at age 16, graduated magna cum laude from SUNY-Buffalo at age 19 and from Rutgers-Camden law school at age 22. His position as a Camden County Assistant Prosecutor (1979-85) included time as Chief of the juvenile offender unit, winning a $750,000 federal grant. He became the youngest Chief of Litigation (1985-87) in Cumberland County’s history, and then the First Assistant Prosecutor (1987-89). By age 35, he was serving as an instructor to the N.J. State Police and today he often presents to groups of attorneys on topics of legal interest. “I enjoy teaching, and that’s always been part of what I do,” Helmer says.

Since founding his firm in 1992, Helmer has led his growing team on a successful journey to provide high quality, well respected legal services in New Jersey. Helmer remains focused on criminal defense law, melding his street-wise instincts with a professorial wisdom to become an even greater force in his field. The firm currently includes over ten attorneys practicing in six locations throughout central and southern New Jersey. This talented and aggressive group (which includes several former assistant prosecutors), serves the needs of criminal, family, immigration, workers compensation and administrative law clients. Helmer is especially proud of the high percentage of attorneys in the firm who have joined him in becoming certified by the Supreme Court of NJ in their chosen field.

Helmer and his wife Lynn, a physician executive, have three children and two grandchildren. Helmer has personal priorities – family, friends and winning for his clients.
