When I see clients for the first time generally they want to know right away what the result is going to look like. And the fact is, I can't predict anything with certainty. I have to speak in broad terms, especially in the beginning, about an outcome. I don't know what the other side is going to say.

Everyone has a style and approach to handling cases, and I'm no different. I'll always try to start out the nice way, the amicable way. I tell every client that he or she will be co-parenting their children for the rest of their lives. Weddings and graduations, just for starters. That's incentive enough to keep things amicable, for the lawyers as well.

But if we are forced to do it the hard way, we'll do that, too. Generally I'm not eager to take a case to court unless I know it's in the client's best interest - and I'm fairly certain we are going to prevail. We'll always keep the process professional - I don't get emotionally wrapped up in my clients' cases.

I think I bring a level of common sense to my work, and have pretty good intuition about people. That's important.
