BIOGRAPHY Steven Rubenstein has long been one of the leading matrimonial attorneys in Northern New Jersey, particularly in Northern Bergen County, where his practice is based. Indeed, he has been practicing more than 25 years in Bergen and Passaic Counties, and is well known and well liked in the divorce-law community there. He capably and cheerfully handles scores of cases each year. He is certified by the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney. As a certified divorce mediator, he engages in both private and judicially referred family mediation. Rubenstein and his partner, Lawrence N. Meyerson, represented Hana Fhima in a highly publicized 1992 case. Their client's son, Shai Fhima Rueven, was abducted by an orthodox rabbi in Brooklyn, and the son was missing for two years. When he was finally located, Rubenstein represented Hana in a protracted but ultimately successful custody litigation case, which took place in Rockland County, N.Y., and later Bergen County. |
"The goal of the judge is to determine how to fairly divide the marital estate or allocate parenting time. Reasonable people with reasonable attorneys ought to be able to settle their cases, and they usually do. "
The case is the subject of a recently published book, The Zaddik. Rubenstein, Meyerson, Blake & Fox, PA, is based in Montvale; he lives in Westwood.
