Divorce Law - Moorestown, NJ

In my initial conference with a client, the first thing I ask is, ‘How can I help you?' After that my job is to listen. It's true that occasionally I must disabuse someone of the notion that the process will be fast, or even fair. Some people will come, obviously, with a grave sense of injustice and a desire to get even. But the process is not intended for anyone to do that.

Our area of the law is fact-based. Every case is distinct, driven by the unique facts and circumstances of the people involved. I would say that 80 to 90 percent of the cases I handle settle expeditiously, but I still try my share of cases. Five or ten percent of my caseload will occupy 40 to 50 percent of my time.

I found early on that I love courtrooms and courthouses. There's a vibrancy and energy you find in few other places. And there's courthouse scuttlebutt, little pieces of information, which can help make you a better prepared and more effective lawyer.

Being a member of a community - of a local community like ours - is important to being an effective attorney. And I've been here for over 30 years, so I've gotten to know what people in our community expect and are looking for. It's more than simply knowing what's going on at the courthouse -it's knowing people and personalities.

I do love to contribute to the law. That's why I've always lectured and served as an instructor. I write regularly for New Jersey Family Lawyer. I enjoy it, and I benefit from it in many ways. It certainly makes me a better attorney, and I know my clients benefit from that. As Chaucer wrote in the Canterbury Tales, "And gladly would he learn and gladly teach."
