A New Jersey native, Weinberger graduated from Manalapan High School in Monmouth County, and went on to the University of Massachusetts, where she double-majored in sociology and legal studies. "I knew I wanted to be a lawyer even back then." She considered entertainment and sports law, and worked briefly for an NBC affiliate producing legal affairs reports while in law school. But she turned to matrimonial law while clerking for Middlesex County Family Judge Roger Daley, "a tremendous experience and a great mentor," adding, "a clerkship really gives backroom insights into the process and the judicial system. Every lawyer would benefit from that kind of experience." From there she worked for several years in divorce boutique firms as both an associate and partner. Eager to build her professional identity and encouraged by her husband, she launched her own practice.
