Over his remarkable 40-year career Elliot Samuelson has held most of the leadership positions of New York's matrimonial bar organizations. He served as president of the New York Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and has been a fellow for more than 25 years. He is a founder, past president and master of the New York Family Law American Inn of Court, an important educational venue for young attorneys. He is a member and former chair of the Nassau County Bar Association Matrimonial and Family Law Committee and an arbitrator for the Unified Court System Domestic Relations Fee Arbitration Program. The author of more than 100 professional articles published in national, regional and local matrimonial journals and periodicals, Samuelson is one of the leading voices of divorce law; he has been an editor of the "Family Law Review" of the New York State Bar Association since 1976. His "Divorce Law Handbook: A Comprehensive Guide to Matrimonial Practice," was first published in 1988, and it remains an instructive guide to the profession. He is also author of "The Unmarried Couples Legal Survival Guide," published by Carol Publishing in 1997. His textbook "Matrimonial Motion Practice" can be found on the desk of matrimonial lawyers and judges. Samuelson is listed in the divorce lawyers' section of "Best Lawyers in America
