Steven Abel was admitted to the New York Bar in 1973. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals. He has held various positions in the field of divorce mediation, having served as president of the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation. He has served as an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. He has qualified as an Advanced Practitioner for the Association for Conflict Resolution and as an Accredited Member of the New York State Council on Divorce Mediation. He is a former president and treasurer of the Rockland Family Shelter, and has served on its Board of Directors since 1979. He is also a Founding Member and Secretary of the New York State Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
