Angela Pence England
Divorce Law - Houston, TX

For more than two decades Angela Pence England has been one of Houston’s leading matrimonial attorneys, whose early experience, leadership and contribution to the profession places her at the helm of a firm with a rich history in Texas family law. Moreover, England - positive yet direct, with a broad set of skills - brings a rare stability, reliability and balance to a demanding legal specialty. Peers say she is emotionally committed to her clients, yet maintains a high level of professionalism and efficacy as an advocate. She has practiced her entire career with Harry Tindall, one of the pioneers of modern divorce law in Texas. She co-authors, with Tindall, one of the key treatises of Texas divorce law each year, currently in its 28th printing. (Mr. Tindall is Of Counsel to the firm today.) Thus Tindall England is a thriving five-attorney practice, which provides services in all areas of family and divorce law: traditional litigation and mediation, as well as collaborative law, an area that Tindall England has pioneered. Indeed, the firm is one of a handful of family law boutiques in the state with such a high stature and solid reputation.

Though born in Shreveport, England grew up in Houston (“I’m the only family member not born in Texas”) and attended Taylor High School in nearby Katy before heading off to UT. Her father, a longtime agent for State Farm, and her mother, a certified public accountant for oil-and-gas firms, instilled a diligence and resourcefulness in their daughters (England’s sister lives in the Dallas area). England, who majored in accounting as an undergraduate, believed “I would follow my mother” into auditing. Her first aspirations to the law, however, came on a senior high school trip to the Supreme Court in Washington; her high school yearbook mentioned the court as “Angela Pence’s future workplace.” With strong writing skills, England was a “Law Review nerd” in law school when one day she attended a brown-bag lunch class lecture presided over by a respected divorce attorney, and “I knew family law was for me.”

While still a student, England clerked for Tindall. Then, immediately out of law school in the spring of 1995, was recruited as a lawyer by the firm, with whom she has built her practice ever since. “I was fortunate to hit the ground running.” Over the years, Tindall added her as an author to “Sampson, Tindall, & England’s Texas Family Code Annotated”. She has also served on a variety of local & statewide bar associations. Her experiences involve a range of complex casework in all areas of family law. Tindall “has certainly been my greatest mentor - we have always had a great rapport.” Their practice has evolved with their relationship: “In certain respects there’s a yin and yang, we provide good balance to each other’s personalities in our approach today.” With their firm focusing exclusively on family law, Tindall England is one of the most respected and influential firms of the Texas divorce bar. England and her husband, Tom England, a CPA, have an elementary school age son and the family enjoys his sports, golf and travel. They attend Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston.
