With a family law practice that spans the state, Mount Laurel-based Lisa Rosenberg Moore has worked as a family-law litigator for over two decades. She's built a solid record and reputation in courthouses from Bergen to Cape May County. Moore recently launched an independent practice after serving for several years as of counsel to a prominent Philadelphia-based firm.

There's a certain self-awareness to Moore that clients, opponents and judges appreciate: "My life experiences have made me a better lawyer." Moore's interest in family law is due, in part, to her keen sensitivity of the tremendous challenges that face individuals embroiled in divorce, custody, support and domestic violence issues, she says. She grew up in the "sleepy and idyllic" shore town of Margate, New Jersey near Atlantic City, New Jersey where her father, Martin Rosenberg, was a shareholder in a multi-generational family business, Atlantic Plate Glass. "My Dad taught me the value of hard work, reliability and to approach life with a sense of humor. My Mom taught me to be respectful of others and try to always do the right thing. I live by the lessons taught by my parents today." The only girl in a family of four siblings, she attended Atlantic City High School where she was outgoing and self-assured early on.

In the mid 80s Moore enrolled at The University of Delaware amid a campus-housing shortage and roomed with 10 classmates in a common basement area at the beginning of her freshman year - "turned out to be the most valuable college course I took and a valuable life lesson. I learned how to turn what could have been a negative experience into a positive. I use that skill on a daily basis in my law practice and throughout all aspects of my life." In 1988, she chose to attend Temple law school where she originally thought tax law would be her primary area of practice, but she says she came to appreciate the challenge and creativity of litigation as it relates to family law.

These qualities of litigation came into focus for Moore during her judicial law clerkship with the Hon. George L. Seltzer, Presiding Judge Family Part, in Atlantic City. Judge Seltzer taught her to be prepared, and respect the process, she says. She subsequently accepted a position at the West Orange practice of renowned divorce lawyer Lynne Strober, then head of the State Bar's Family Law Section. "Lynne and I hit it off, and she set a great example. She taught me you didn't have to shed your feminine side to be an effective lawyer. Just be yourself." After 10 years, Moore decided to return to her South Jersey roots. Building positive relationships with her fellow attorneys, she became known in the divorce bar and in courts throughout the region.

On a personal note, Moore says she focuses on her college-age daughter, who she states is an "inspiration and a shining light." When she is not working, Moore enjoys hot yoga, spinning and long-distance running. She says she enjoys her work now more than ever: "Learning and growing is never accomplished by following a straight line. I take something positive from every person I meet along the way. Knowing that keeps me motivated, inspired and moving forward."
