Elizabeth C. Early
Divorce Law - Plymouth Meeting, PA

I'm definitely known for being a straight shooter. - sometimes that means being blunt and to the point. But that approach always serves my client's interests. The fact is my job is to help my clients understand their options, not to waste their time, and to get them through the process. Getting to that resolution, a lasting resolution, is what it's all about.

It's usually not all that difficult to identify scenarios in a client's case. What's the most preferred outcome? What's the worst case? How de we solve the problem?

I will give advice – you can do A, B or C, for instance– but the decisions are not mine. My client is always driving the bus. I'm helping navigate, helping move you forward.

My practice focuses on matters of custody, support, and equitable distribution – all that, in one shape or another, is family law. Part of my practice too involves litigation, advocating for my clients in court. But the best lawyers are able to combine and integrate multiple approaches – and determining which approach best suits the client. A good lawyer is able to recognize the best solution, so families can get on with their lives.

It's not usual for clients, especially in custody cases, to come in with unrealistic expectations. And sometimes it is difficult to tell someone that they won't get what they are expecting. But that is part of our job – the facts of your situation, and the law that applies to your case, will determine the outcome.

The Covid pandemic has certainly changed the process – and it may change the process permanently. Some county courts have gone almost entirely virtual, with Zoom calls serving as court hearings. Others will still have juries that meet in person, but with less frequency.

I'm finding too that telephone conferences – they are more frequent as well - can get more adversarial. People say things to one another that they wouldn't say face-to-face. It's more important than ever to keep an eye on everyone's conduct. That just a way to improve the outcome.

I'm a pretty energetic person – I mean, I can barely sit on the couch for a few minutes to watch a television show. I love to be productive, and I say what I feel is important. At the end of the day, that serves my clients' interests.

I feel as though I am just getting started. I love what I do – in fact, if I were not practicing family law, I'm not sure I'd be a lawyer. I'm passionate about it, and I think my clients recognize and appreciate that.
